2-car crash claims 1 life, injures several others

In California and other states, road intersections are notoriously dangerous simply because traffic crosses at those locations. Although stop signs and traffic lights are there to help manage the flow of traffic, some drivers fail to adhere to the signs or lights either because of distraction or recklessness. No one knows exactly what caused a two-car accident at an intersection north of Malibu recently, but the crash claimed the life of one person and critically injured several others.

Accident details

At approximately 8:30 p.m. on Feb. 26, two cars were at an intersection on Malibu Canyon Road. The intersection was at Mesa Peak Motorway and Piuma Road. Reportedly, the two cars were the only vehicles involved.

The Los Angeles County Fire Department and California Highway Patrol responded to the accident. Officials claim at least six people were injured, although one report stated another person had been injured as well. Regardless, one victim was declared dead at the scene, and four others were taken to a local hospital in critical condition. Authorities are still investigating the crash.

Legal recourse for victims

Should officials determine which driver was responsible for the accident, those adversely affected may elect to pursue wrongful death and/or personal injury claims against the driver to pursue recovery of monetary damages. If the driver was the victim who passed away but was still deemed responsible for the accident, his or her estate can still be named in any civil suits that arise. Either way, affected parties will want to work with an experienced personal injury attorney in California to increase their chances of obtaining a favorable outcome.
