Crash details

The car crash occurred at around 12:45 a.m. According to police, a 21-year-old woman was driving on the Pacific Coast Highway when she struck three parked cars. The impact of the crash caused two of the vehicles to fall off a cliff and land on the beach below.

The cars struck and killed a 32-year-old woman. Another woman, also age 32, and a boy, 17, were injured. The injured parties were taken to a medical center, where their conditions were deemed stable. Legal recourse available

The surviving family members of the deceased woman may opt to file a wrongful death claim against the allegedly drunk driver, seeking the reimbursement of financial damages sustained due to the California wreck. Likewise, the injured parties may file personal injury claims against the reportedly drunk driver. If the driver ends up being convicted of her drunk driving charge, proof of the conviction may be presented in civil court to establish negligence per se for the accident. Claims that are successfully litigated typically result in judgments for monetary damages to cover documented financial losses, including medical expenses and burial costs, as appropriate.
